Modular Grid: a great tool for web designers

Filed under Tools | 1 Comment

Today we want to show you a useful tool for web designers: Modular Grid Pattern. It is an application which helps you quickly and easily to create modular grids in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Fireworks, GIMP, Microsoft Expression Design and other.

Modular Grid Pattern provides a web app that generates PNG or Photoshop patterns (a PAT file) ready to be used into Photoshop or any other image processor; the alternative is downloading an extension for generating grids directly into Photoshop.

What is and why to use a Modular Grid?

Well, a modular grid is a grid containing both horizontal and vertical divisions. It can be really useful for creating a balanced layout. We have found a really interesting post about modular grids in web design on Viljami Salminen blog. You can choose not to use that technique, but we believe a good web designer has to consider it.

By “sketchbook” I assume you mean purchasable books with a set number of sketch sheets, preferably with the function of being able to tear them out (like a standard notepad).

If so I would buy the hell out of these things.
